Something astonishing has happened since Mitt Romney won the presidential debate. Despite the militant left insisting Obama had the election in the bag, the polls have turned, Romney is winning and the entire landscape of the election has changed.
But it wasn’t just the debate that stirred this momentum shift. For the last four years, the mainstream media have carried the water for President Obama and his lackeys.
Then an ambassador was killed in Benghazi and the White House insisted there was a protest against an anti-Muslim video that got out of hand, got a little rowdy and some people died. To hear the Obama administration and the State Department tell the story, it was a frat party where people had a few too many drinks.
And instead of decrying the acts of the drunk people, the Obama administration blamed the drunk people.
Well, as it turns out, there was no alcohol at the party. There was no protest, no anti-video anything. Just a lot of people who wanted to kill Americans.
Conservatives, and I don’t know why only conservatives, were extremely dubious of the Obama administration’s explanation of the events in Libya. If you read my blogs and tweets regularly, you know I was among the doubters.
It didn’t take much in the way of investigation to realize there was no protest. Ever.
And things started to change.
The media, who had been filling in the blanks for the Obama campaign realized it’d be duped. If there’s one thing I can say with certainty about journalists having been one, few industries boast egos as large.
Lying to them and making them look stupid is a quick way to dump them from your team.
Since then, the media has committed more flagrant acts of journalism in two weeks than in four years of an Obama administration.
Piers Morgan flogged Debbie Wasserman-Schultz for Obama’s inept response and her own deceptions eliciting a Hot Air headline ‘DWS to Piers Morgan: How dare you call our entirely discredited cover story on Benghazi false, or something’
Jake Tapper and Ed Henry both pushed back on Jay Carney over the lies from the White House.
Carney insisted yesterday that the White House has said all along this was a terrorist attack and he’s sort of, kind of, a little bit right.
He’s correct inasmuch as the White House called this an act of terror from the start. What he conveniently forgets is that the State Department and the president said this was a reaction to a video. A spontaneous, things got a little out of hand moment.
Except there was never any evidence to suggest that was true.
The New York Times (!) has done an excellent job laying out what the White House and State Departments have said about the attacks.
Three days after the attacks, Jay Carney, White House Press Secretary, said, “We have no information to suggest that it was a preplanned attack.”
Susan Rice, our ambassador to the UN said just two days later, “What this began as was a spontaneous, not a premeditated, response to what happened transpired in Cairo.”
“We believe that folks in Benghazi, a small number of people, came to the embassy to — or to the consulate rather — to replicate the sort of challenge that was posed in Cairo.”
That wasn’t true then and it isn’t true now. Even a week later Carney was saying this was not preplanned, except for the next day, Matthew Olson, Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said this was carried out by al-Qaeda, which means, of course, it was preplanned.
So to recap: there was no protest or any anti-video motivations to these attacks. There was never any evidence to suggest there was. All along the evidence suggested a terrorist attack that was planned, particularly considering it was September 11.
That means either our government is incredibly stupid and inept, or they flat out lied to us. The second seems much more likely.
Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama stood in front of the coffins of fallen U.S. diplomats and service people and lied to our faces, apologized for a video that had literally nothing to do with the attacks, and refused to stand up to the thugs who committed acts of war against America.
An incredibly disheartening and discouraging act of cowardice from the Obama administration is followed by the exact opposite from the media.
They decided to finally do their jobs and suddenly the election is a dead heat, trending in Mitt Romney’s favor.
Imagine where we’d be if the media had done this all along.
